Kearns Utah Information
Kearns is a township in Salt Lake County, Utah. It is a suburban community located about 15 miles south of Salt Lake City.
According to the United States Census Bureau of 2000, Kearns has a population of more than 33,500 people. The township has a total area of 4.8 square miles with a population density of over 6,900 people per square mile. It is located at high altitudes of over 4,500 feet above sea level.
The racial demographics of Kearns are 81.78% White, 0.66% African American, 1.02% Native American, 1.69% Asian, 2.34% Pacific Islander, 9.82% from other races, and 2.70% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race are 19.62% of the population.
Kearns has more than 5,000 households, many of them affluent. The median income for a household in the township is $45,711, and the median income for a family is $46,598.
Kearns is home to the Utah Olympic Oval, an indoor sports arena that’s most notable for hosting long track speed skating events during the 2002 Winter Olympics. The arena continues to host different ice-related activities and competitions.
